”Groundhog Day” is an American comedy, fantasy, sci-fi film written by Harrold Ramis and Danny Rubin. It was produced by Trevor Albert and Harold Ramis and directed by Harold Ramis. The cast of talented actors include Bill Murray, Andie Macdowell, and Chris Elliot. This is a comedy classic that withstands the test of time.
Bill Murray plays Phil Connors, an arrogant TV weatherman who finds himself re-living the same day of his life over and over. He is sent to Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania with Rita Hanson played by Andie Macdowell and Larry played by Chris Elliot to cover groundhog day and wakes every morning at the same time in the same day. He acts up and even tries to commit suicide but still wakes up in the same day. With the help of Rita he eventually gets a more positive view on life because he falls in love. His actions and goals in life change and he becomes a nicer person.
This is a fun movie with a simple, well written story. Phil has made many mistakes in his life that he is able to correct thanks to the time bubble and introspection. This time bubble allows Phil to take an honest look at himself and what is important in life. Day after day he makes changes to his life to be with Rita and eventually succeeds. This film has wide audience appeal among different age groups and genre lovers. This movie is a must see and own.
