”Mythbusters” is an American, Australian, science, reality TV series created by Peter Rees and staring Jamie Hyneman, Adam Savage, Tory Belleci, Scottie Chapman, Kari Byron, Grant Imahara and Jessi Combs. It is narrated by Robert Lee and Robin Banks. It is shown all over the world in places like Australia, Europé, Canada and of course the US among other countries. I heard there was even an appearance by President Barack Obama in several episodes. This program is nothing less than a brilliant idea given form as well as the dream job of so many faithful fans. Yes it´s the lottery job of the century.

”Mythbusters” is a simple concept. The brave people of the series scientifically test urban legends, movie scenes and all those little things we wonder about in our everyday lives. For example, they tested the famous cartoon and movie situation were a character must outrun a line of gunpowder that leads to a barrel of gunpowder. Personally I´ve always wondered the feasibilty of this much-used, famous scene. We saw it in every cartoon scene, at one point or another, growing up. Even some action movies use it and I´m not gonna spoil that episode for you by telling you the outcome of their testing. I wouldn´t do that to you.

In a more serious episode they tested the feasibility that someone could lose their thumb if they covered the cylinder of a revolver where the explosion is released. For safety´s sake I will tell you that that experiment was confirmed as true. You can loose your thumb if you cover the cylinder where the explosive discharge is released. So keep that in mind all you that have this as a hobby. I´ve never had guns as a hobby but I was still curious and surprised at the outcome of the episode.

When they do their experiments they have three possible self explanatory results. An experiment can be confirmed (or true), plausible or busted. Now it is true that many experiments involved blowing things up but they always exercize caution and tell the audience not to try it at home. So that makes it OK.

This is a different kind of reality TV series. It´s fun to watch and informative in a loose sense of the term. I see this program as a very good idea brought to the screen. The show is a real gem and I highly recommend it. There are plenty of episodes and seasons to enjoy.
