Our Changing Education Going Forward

Education also confused with Academia has always been a staple in the workplace. The kind of school someone went to can still open opportunities in the job market, social circles, obtaining business capital from venture capitalists, banks and private lenders. But, but, but A person’s learning and self betterment journey does not solely consist of an academic career, especially not today. Times are a changing.
Firstly, more and more corruption and fraud in academia is coming to light and the effect of that is that more and more people no longer believe in the academic system any more. The stories of fraud and corruption in academia are, like a boulder rolling downhill, gaining momentum. More and more people are choosing to divest from academia. They are just walking away. They are choosing better alternatives like learning a craft online, with videos, documents and well meaning tutors. There are also many good certificate and online programs to pick up some good skills. All of these just diminish the love and necessity of a fully blotted, time sucking, over-priced academic system.
Now that learning is much less centralized, the everyday person sees that there are talented people, people with great ideas and inventions everywhere. They are not solely found in academia. This is a kind of betrayal that makes people distrust and dislike academia even more. We live in The Golden Age of Ideas, not a Golden Age of Ideas, meaning that the everyday person has never been able to express themselves, share their experiences and ideas to all of digitally connected humanity before. And that is a lot of people. Some content creators can reach millions, if not hundreds of millions of people all over the world and across all cultures. This is inconceivable to the everyday person of 30 years ago. It would be Scifi to them.
It’s funny to be on the job where they tell you to go online at websites like Youtube to learn about a particular financial instrument. Yes. Go online to learn something whether it’s to fix your house, learn a new hobby or do research for work, people go online and even consult AI. They do not go to academia or call up their old professors. I would never call my old university professors in search of information on an important topic. I however did go online and I found what I was looking for. Mission accomplished, so to speak, but the AI I used was free, so were the websites and channels I learned from. No academia was involved in any way.
I can tell you that on the job I use AI software like my own personal secretary. AI can write me several emails at once. Reorganize multiple files, collate files, check for accuracy and so much more. It’s only a matter of time before my AIs will offer advice on the job like a good friend or spouse would.
So, now we need to ask ourselves just how obsolete is academia today? How can it be revamped into something that has caught up with the times?
