”Surrogates” is an American science fiction film that is taken after a comic book series. It is directed by Jonathon Mostow and stars Bruce Willis, Radha Mitchell, Rosamund Pike, Boris Kodjoe, James Cromwell and Ving Rhames.

The story takes place in a not too distant future where people live their lives through robots that resemble them called surrogates. The robots suffer all the wear and tear of daily living and any accidents while the individual stays at home safely attached to a network similar to our internet. People no longer leave their homes or interact face to face with each other anymore. The surrogates give society a mask of perfect health, since they are all flawlessly built to resemble their owners in the prime of their health. It is a society of manniquens where people hide in their homes afraid of the risks of everyday living.

This is a cautionary tale of how we could end up enslaved by technology if we are unwilling to face life and expect technology to face it for us. Although there is nothing wrong with using technology to build a building, boat or airplane it is not normal to have robots travel for us or live life for us. We basically need to experience life in order to grow.

”Surrogates” is a very well done movie with a great story and talented actors. Rosamund Pike does a brilliant job as agent Tom Greer´s (played by Bruce Willis) wife. This movie is a must see and own.
