The Eiffel Tower

The one and only Eiffel Tower is an iron tower at the Champs de Mars in Paris, France. Everybody knows what it is and it remains one of the most visited sites in the world. It gives Paris a unique skyline and offers the background for the July 14th Bastille Day fireworks celebration. It´s usually lit up at night to a beautiful golden color thanks to modern lighting.
As it turns out the Eiffel Tower is having a birthday. It was erected in 1889 for the World´s Fair opening and so turns 125 years old this year. So in the birthday spirit here are some Eiffel Tower facts. It is 324metres tall or 81 stories tall and remained the tallest man-made structure until the Chrysler building was built in 1930 in New York City. It has 3 levels and there are oveer 300 steps to reach the first level. You can get to all three levels by elevator and it has a restaurant and small theater. It´s across the Seine river from Place Trocadero and three subway stops from The Arc de Triomphe.
All levels of the Eiffel Tower offer a great view of the city both during the day or when it is dark. I highly recommend taking a trip, at least once. Whether you want to call it a to-do list or a bucket list or even make a marriage proposal it´s worth it. Even with the airport hassles and obnoxious french people, a trip to the Eiffel Tower is worth it. You need to experience it at least once. None of the pictures I´ve seen do the experience justice.
BTW. Don´t forget to enjoy some of the delicious French pasteries at any boulangerie. They´re unbelievably good.
